October 20th at The Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California
When your good friend calls you in the afternoon and says, "What are you doing tonight? Jackson Browne is playing the Pantages Theatre for the first time ever!" Your response is, obviously, "What time do I need to be there? " Such was the case on Friday for What's In-Store Music's Scott Emerson. The show was the first night of a sold-out three-night stand at the legendary Hollywood venue, and what a kickoff it was. The first thing you notice is his that voice is amazing. If you closed your eyes, you could convince yourself that you were listening to a show back in 1977. The band was tight as a drum and true to the material, and the two set, setlist, was perfectly crafted, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and satisfied. There wasn't a single person walking out of there saying, "Gee, I wish he played that one". He played ALL his hits and more. It was fun watching and listening to Browne, a Los Angeles native, perform for his hometown crowd, sharing stories and observations of life on the road. If there is such a thing as a perfect night of music, this would be it. A big thank you to my good friend and owner of Croshal Entertainment Group, Fred Croshal, for an amazing evening, I won't soon forget.
