December 16th, 2023 at The A&M Lot in Hollywood, CA
On August 16th, 2023 Jerry Moss, the M in A&M Records passed away at his home in Bel Air, California. He was 88. Jerry along with Herb Alpert established A&M Records in 1962 in his garage. It was first created to distribute Herb Alpert songs and grew into one of the most prominent record labels in the country, signing such stars as Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, Super Tramp, Joe Cocker, The Carpenters, The Police, and many more. It was Jerry who insisted Peter Frampton record what would become one of the biggest-selling live albums in history, Frampton Comes Alive. As a tribute to his late partner and dear friend, Herb Alpert invited everyone who ever worked for the label to come join in a celebration of Jerry's life back on the A&M Lot (now the Jim Henson Studios). The event was held on December 16th. Former employees and some artists flew in from around the world to participate in what was not just a celebration of Jerry Moss, but a homecoming. What's In-Store Music's Scott Emerson who worked at the label from 1993 - 2000 was on hand to take it all in. It was an amazing night filled with stories, music, and love that nobody who attended will soon forget.
