"The overarching idea of 'Shimmer' is chasing a feeling that has faded, whether you like it or not. Musically, the song features an incredibly tight, hard-cut, retro piano mixed with an arpeggio from a Yamaha DX7 that rests underneath. This is accompanied with a basic, but effective tight pocketed drum beat and arpeggiated bass line. Lyrically, the main themes of the track involve love and longing. Visiting the places you've been with someone, whether it be a friend or partner, and those places not holding the same meaning as they once did.
