Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii - MCMLXXII (2025)
AMC IMAX Theater in Burbank, CA 4/27/25

For this week's Out & About, let's go to the movies! If you call yourself a Pink Floyd fan but the only album you own is The Wall, this movie isn't for you. Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii-MCMLXXII is for the diehard fans. This cinematic treasure shot in 1972 takes place in the haunting ancient ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. It showcases the band in a live setting without an audience and features selections from their early albums, Piper at The Gates of DawnSaucer Full of SecretsMEDDLE, and a couple of songs from the yet to be released Dark Side of The Moon. It was a trip to say the least. The performances were amazing, the music, haunting, and the film making was raw and real. People often only think of Roger Waters and David Gilmore as the driving forces behind Pink Floyd. This movie is very much a group effort, and I found myself walking out of the theater with a greater appreciation for drummer, Nick Mason and piano/keyboard/singer, Richard Wright. The film is having a limited run, with only another of dates left, and an accompanying live album out NOW! Check it out HERE!
