WAR
"Yes, It's Christmas"

"During my whole career I have been asked many times why WAR hasn’t ever done Christmas music or when we will come out with a holiday song. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how. In thinking through the possibilities in my mind, I didn’t know whether or not we could do something our way and in our style or if we needed to keep it traditional. Staying true to us is what we had always done, So finally, Jerry Goldstein had the idea to take our song 'Summer' and adapt it to incorporate Christmas and holiday lyrics. When we got together to collaborate on it, the lyrics just came naturally. When I re-did the vocal from 'Cause it’s summer' to 'Yes it’s Christmas,' it just felt right! 'Summer' was also just a natural song to to be the one to use for the holidays because it also happens to be in a major key, which usually sounds happier anyways. In no time we had our very first Christmas song and are excited to share it with our fans."
