Here at What's In-Store Music we like to look towards the future. A great example is when we start teasing Christmas music in July. People laugh about that, but the truth is, Christmas may be in December, but holiday playlists, aside from a few exceptions for new songs from major artists, are curated and ready to go in early September! Artists participating in our annual holiday program know to get their songs to us early. Now that it's spring we are setting our sights on summer. If you've got a song, you want to be played in stores throughout the summer, submitting it now, will ensure that. As you put the rest of your marketing plan in place, we can get you thousands of impressions in advance. Some labels place songs with us months before their song's radio date. If you've got something you'd like warmed up before the summer months, you might want to consider submitting it with What's In-Store Music today!

Vella
"All My Love"

The title track and first single from Vella's album, "All My Love", encapsulates the essence of her artistic evolution. "All My Love" holds a special place in her heart as one of the first songs she began writing for the album. As Vella explains, "It's about being fed up with people who don't give back the same energy that you are giving them, people who waste your time and love. I wanted to put my foot down and say, 'I'm done wasting my love on you.'" The song's lyrics oscillate vividly between vulnerability and fierce empowerment. The emotion builds as the song moves from a self-reflective verse to a cathartic chorus, where her vocals soar with raw honesty. Through powerful ad libs and dynamic transitions, Vella wanted to "scream out every emotion" by the song's end, embodying the freedom of letting go. The single's unfiltered expression of heartache and resilience sets a compelling tone for the album, drawing listeners into Vella's journey of growth and self-discovery.

Out & About with Adrian Lyles

At The Echoplex on February 22, 2025 in Los Angeles, CA

One day I'll be able to say, "I saw him when". That was running through my head as I watched Hollywood Records recording artist Adrian Lyles at the Echoplex last week. It was the final night of his "i can't hear you" tour which had taken him from New York to his hometown of Los Angeles and everywhere in between, with only a couple of days off on the entire tour. As direct support for another Hollywood act Almost Monday, Adrian took the stage in front of a packed house, and it was clear from the get-go many folks were there to see him. From the opening notes of "Somewhere To Go" he took immediate command of the room, pacing the stage with the eager enthusiasm of someone who was achieving his dream, and loving every minute of it. He engaged the audience between songs with stories of his path to this moment, thanking his family for their undying support, driving him from gig to gig as a kid. There was no way anyone seeing him for the first time could have guessed this was his first US tour. His amazing voice, style, and showmanship would leave you to believe he's been doing this forever. There is no question in my mind that Adrian Lyles is going to be a star. Big thanks to Kate Hackman and the folks at Hollywood for inviting me out. Make sure to keep an ear our his songs "Somewhere to Go" and "King of Everything" as they play overhead in retailers everywhere.

Have a great week,

Scott Emerson
