"Ride Or Die"

“My music has always been inspired by the pop music of the 80’s and 90’s, so when we first started to think about the beat for this song, we started with the LinnDrum drum machine, famed for iconic tracks like Prince’s “1999” and A-ha’s “Take On Me”. It was a staple in the 80’s and so to stay authentic to that era, we added a super cool synthesizer, which ended up being replaced by an even better sound, a live wailing saxophone – of which we invited Jimmy Reid (NBC: The Voice and the David Foster Tour) to jam out with us in the studio and take over the bridge as his solo. I literally got goosebumps listening to the saxophone it was an incredible experience for me at 15-years-old. We blended these classic sounds with a modern distorted synth-bass which gave us the main ingredients for ‘Ride Or Die’. With these core musical elements, we began crafting the backstory, which because of the saxophone, instantly felt like a girl admiration and empowerment song centering around a free-spirited young woman who charms and ensnares everyone within her path with her hypnotic beauty, and magnetic confidence and charm, but when cards are stacked, she will always be his “ride or die”

Out & About
With Vella

January 24th, 2024
at Adults Only in Hollywood, CA

Holy Cow, what a voice!!! The audience had no idea what they were in for when L3V3L Music recording artist VELLA took the stage at Adults Only in Hollywood. By the end of her first song, they sure did, and boy did they respond. It's been a while since I've seen a new indie artist take command of a room like that. She had EVERYBODY grooving along with her high-energy set of powerful, soulful tunes from start to finish. All I could think while I was watching was, "Boy, I'm glad I'm not up next". I wouldn't want to follow her on my best day. What's In-Store Music has played several Vella releases including "Sky Without Stars", "Rumors" and "Happiness" and it was a lot of fun to hear them live and see how the audience reacted. Make sure to keep an ear out for this amazing young talent…She's got new music coming out this year and it is AWESOME!!! Big Thank you to Ray De La Garza for sharing this amazing artist with me.

Have a great week,

Scott Emerson
