Summer Is Coming
The weather is warming up, and summer is right around the corner. Bathing suits and beach towels are already hitting the sale racks as retailers gear up for the season. With graduations approaching and vacation plans kicking into high gear, foot traffic is about to surge in restaurants, bars, hotels, and retail shops across the country.
More people in stores means more ears ready to discover new music, and summertime is all about energy. Upbeat, feel-good tracks tend to shine this time of year, making it the perfect moment to get your music out there.

"Pretty Faces"
Paper Money
"The song began as a feeling. Carlo, with long-time collaborator Eric Paquette, built the beat, atmosphere, "la da das," and core melodies, but without lyrics. Marco heard an early version and knew it was special. He and Carlo brought Tim and Eric into the studio for just two days, shaping lyrics around shared experiences and what the track naturally pulled out.
"Pretty Faces" looks back at the moments that didn't feel as important then but ended up meaning everything. The late nights, dumb jokes, near-misses, and the quiet highs in between. It lives in that space between nostalgia and reality, holding onto words and memories that still feel close. There's a bittersweet edge to it: we had it at all, and we got to say goodbye on our own terms."

Enjoying the music of Isla Mujeres
One thing I notice a lot when I travel is that music and musicians are everywhere. Not every working musician makes a living by performing on a stage, far from it. In fact, often, the gigs that pay the bills look very different.
While visiting Isla Mujeres, just off the coast of Cancun, we experienced a variety of local talent in completely different settings.
One night at dinner, there was a roaming saxophone player who was surprisingly good. Although his job was to create a pleasant background atmosphere, his incredible playing didn’t go unnoticed. Loud applause filled the room after each song.
The next night’s entertainment came in the form of a New Age guitar player. His talent, combined with a wide range of tones, layered beats, and warm lighting, transformed an otherwise average room into something resembling a mystical temple.
Night three brought a full sensory experience: two DJs, an electric violin player, and a fire-dancing troupe that was second to none. The music alone was enough to captivate the room, steady grooves blended with the light, flowing violin, creating a mood that seemed to drift beyond the space, out over the water and into the night. The fire dancers were simply the icing on the cake.

Have a great week,
Scott Emerson
