"THE REAPER" by little image

“THE REAPER has always felt less like a song we wrote and more like something that found its way to us. It quickly became our favorite song on the album because it carries so much of what it means to be human: grief, pain, loss, and the quiet weight of forgiveness.

While we were touring the UK, we came across an old church in the north surrounded by the shadow of an abandoned nuclear plant. It felt like the kind of place where this story could live. We decided to shoot the video on 16mm film with our longtime friend and director Sawyer Skipper, someone we’ve been creating with since we were kids. We cast an incredible actor named Neville Cann as The Reaper and asked a lot of him, because we only had one day to capture everything.

None of us knew if it would come together the way we imagined, but somehow every moment seemed to unfold exactly as it needed to. Looking back, it felt less like we were forcing something into existence and more like something quietly orchestrated itself around us.

Creating this video with the same people we started making art with over a decade ago meant more to us than we can really put into words. It’s the kind of experience we’ll carry with us and one day show our kids. More than anything, this song and video represent the reason we’re in a band at all, to remind ourselves and anyone who listens that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves.”
